Medieval), a must-see event that transforms the cobblestone streets into a true journey back in time.
An experience that awakens all the senses
The moment you step through the city gates, you’ll be transported to another era. Forget the modern world! Here, the air is filled with the scent of spices, spit‑roasted meats, and freshly baked bread straight from stone ovens.
Along the streets adorned with colourful banners, you’ll encounter:
- Master artisans: Blacksmiths, weavers, and glassblowers crafting their works before your eyes, just as they did 500 years ago.
- Live performances: Armoured knights, sword duels, fire‑breathers, troubadour musicians, and jesters delighting both young and old.
- Gastronomy from another time: Take a seat in the pop‑up taverns to savour dishes prepared according to 15th‑century recipes, paired with mead or wine served in horn or clay cups.
The absolute ritual not to be missed
It is impossible to leave Óbidos without tasting its local treasure: the Ginjinha (sour cherry liqueur). But beware, here it is not served in just any glass! Enjoy it in a small dark chocolate cup that you can then eat in one bite. An absolute delight!
